Snowballs All Year Round

by Beth on February 6, 2011

To create a centerpiece of fake snowballs is so easy and fun…and a lot warmer than making the real thing. So for your next winter birthday party make sure you have plenty on hand!

1. Materials
White Crayola Model Magic, Styrofoam balls, all the same or various sizes like real life, something 2″ to 4″ is good, beads, googly eyes, and/or buttons, craft plastic rolling pin (the kind you get with clay tools).

2. Instructions
Roll out your Model Magic as thin as you can with the plastic rolling pin. Wrap a thin layer around the styrofoam completely covering it. Smooth out any bumps or seams.

Using smaller pieces of Model Magic add features: hair, eye sockets, eyebrows, nose, mouth, teeth, laugh lines, mustache, beard, glasses, ears, earrings, hair bows, pearl necklace, you get the idea.

Place eyeballs using googly eyes, beads or buttons. Push eye sockets around the eyes to hold them in place.

Let them sit to dry. Make sure you package up all of the unused Model Magic in a resealable bag, getting out all of the air. I recommend  double bagging.

3. Presentation
Fill a large clear glass bowl (so you can see all of the ones on the bottom) with snowballs.

You now have a totally original, fun centerpiece that your guests will not be able to keep their eyes and hands off of!
