Quack If You’re Inspired

by Letetia on May 15, 2011

I don’t know what it is with me and birds lately, but I’m seeing ready-made color schemes everywhere I look. This duck, for instance, is sporting a beautiful combination of violet, taupe, and cream. Think tablecloths, contrasting napkins, floral arrangements, pottery. And if you need an accent color for still more punch, the emerald green or bright orange on our pal is a done deal.

Italian Birthday Party Palette

April 27, 2011

I was looking at my photos from Rome and noticed that all of my favorite ones had something in common. The warm, earthy color: terracotta. You can still use bistro tables and chairs for your Italian Birthday Party, but instead of red and white checkered table cloths, cover your table in solid damask. What color [...]

A Color Palette for Spring

April 18, 2011

Sometimes you need to look high and low for your birthday party theme colors. Think of your last vacation, pour through books, magazines and the web, take long walks and wait for the inspiration to hit you. And sometimes your party palette is found a little closer to home than others. Nothing says spring like [...]

Fowl Inspiration

April 8, 2011

I’ve always been impressed by interior design schemes that rely on colors Mother Nature has bestowed on foods. It’s like she’s already done the color palette work for you: cantaloupe and lime; beet red and spinach green. Seeing these birds in the Fuengirola Bioparc (extra points for knowing where that is!) made me think of [...]

Costa del Sol Palette

March 29, 2011

Everywhere I looked in Benalmádena, Spain, creamy yellows and soft peaches adorned buildings that stood out against the vibrant azure of the sky. When you want a change from cheerfully intense tropical colors but want to retain their relaxed warmth, for your next party look to the colors of Costa del Sol.

Asian Party Palette

March 22, 2011

China was a great experience. Hopefully not a once in a lifetime experience. But, just in case I want to share the colors and patterns I found there to inspire you for your next Asian theme party. Some of the color I kind of expected. The bright colors of the silk, flowers and fish. I [...]

Easter Palette

March 1, 2011

Purple and Green. Green and Purple. You can’t go wrong for your Easter Birthday Party Theme. And the easiest way to start is with flowers. We have something called Produce Junction around here. I have never bought produce there, but the flowers are gorgeous, plentiful, and best of all cheap. The most important thing to [...]

Black & White Parisien Palette

February 17, 2011

I never realized how beautiful the Black & White of Paris was until I took this really great walking tour of Montmartre. The windmills really got me started (here’s one of the 500 I took). The dramatic, sexy impact of Black & White is so Paris. We just happen to have a great French Tea [...]

Happy Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2011

Cosmo courtesy of Quinn Dombrowski On a cruise last year, I had one of the best drinks I’ve ever had: a pomegranate cosmopolitan. What you need to know is I’ve always steered away from even trying a cosmopolitan, feeling that it sounded awfully clichéd. After that marvelous bartender served his specialty, I came home and [...]

Yellow for Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2011

This time of year it’s red and pink, pink and red. Now I’m not saying I don’t enjoy the pink and red barrage, I do. After all, that does say Valentine’s Day. I’m just saying there is a lot be said for yellow (and my honey knows it).
