Hot Apple Cider & Hint of Orange

by Letetia on March 11, 2011

The recent weather in Granada, Spain was wonderfully spring like, and orange trees were weighted down with lush fruit throughout the city. Unfortunately, back on the home front cold days and even colder nights are still in effect. Bring a bit of Granada warmth to any of your winter parties with a simple hot beverage that’ll leave the guests feeling toasty. Heat apple cider and a bit of orange juice over low heat (heat it too harshly and you’ll end up with spices separating out). Add rum to taste. Since it’s a party, go all out and add a cinnamon stick to each mug for stirring and added flavor. Of course, omitting the rum is allowed, but with my crowd not nearly as much fun!

Skiing: Partiers on the Move!

March 8, 2011

Yes, I’m yearning for hot days and warm nights, but the fact of the matter is there are many folks who adore playing in the cold. If you and your buddies are skiers, you have a great ready-made venue, activity, and party all rolled into one. As for these photos of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany…I just watched, [...]

Glühwein…take that, oh wintry cold!

March 4, 2011

March may be here, but warm weather is still an abominably long way off. A perfect cold weather antidote to serve at an impromptu party is Glühwein. This German equivalent of mulled wine is typically served during Christmas season in Germany, but in my mind it’s fabulous on any wintry day. Go ahead and have [...]

Chilled Drinks

January 31, 2011

The best thing about the east coast these days is the unlimited supply of  snow. Fill an old wooden crate, a metal tub, or an old wooden drawer with snow for your next birthday party. Add all of your best bottles. Sit it by the deck door, sliding glass doors are perfect, so you can [...]

Black & White Party Scent

January 19, 2011

Everyone thinks about the look, the feel, the food, the music, but what about the scent. Lets not forget about the 5th sense when throwing a party. Paperwhites or Narcissus are absolutely perfect for a Black & White themed party. They totally sweeten up the starkness of the Black & White theme. Plant a few [...]

A Hot Drink for a Cold Night

January 2, 2011

My very smart niece (who knows her aunt well) was perusing the aisles of Williams & Sonoma and found all of the ingredients (minus the rum) for mulled cider for her well deserving aunt. Can’t possible be as easy as it looks, right? Wrong! Instructions are on the bottle, and the can for that matter, [...]
